Casey wants Kid Galahad
Willie Casey misses the big fight atmosphere so much he is willing to fight any of the super bantamweight names to get it back.
The Limerick southpaw packed out Limerick University when he defeated Paulie Hyland to become Continental ring king and was supported by 5,000 fans when he unsuccessfully tried to dethrone then WBA interim champion Guillermo Rigondeaux in City West.
A frustrated Casey, who is currently sparring Scott Quigg, misses that big fight atmosphere and is intent on getting it back.
“I will share the ring with any of the top names just to experience that big fight atmosphere again. I am willing to take risks. I am not calling people out for the sake of it. I don’t name drop, but anyone out there looking to fight a top name fighter- I am here. I am a top name in Europe,” Casey told Box Nation’s Buncey’s Boxing hour.
The Former European champion and world title challenger, Casey suffered his second loss in Denmark last month, however he’s still confident he can make an impact at the weight. And Big Bang wants the big names so he can prove it.
“I want big fights. I don’t want to fight journey men at all. It is not quite happening for me at the moment, but I am here to fight. I want any of the top 5. We are hoping to have a WBA title fight in England soon. We are talking to one or two names already, but nothing is confirmed.”
